Job Description
A Senior Epic Certified Lab Analyst leads the design, implementation, and optimization of laboratory workflows within the Epic Systems EHR, with deep expertise in the Beaker (LIS) module.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end implementation and optimization of EPIC Beaker (CP/AP) modules
• Architect and configure complex lab workflows: specimen collection, accessioning, testing, resulting, and reporting
• Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for laboratory operations and Epic Beaker functionality
• Design and manage integrations between Epic Beaker, lab instruments, middleware, and external systems (HL7 interfaces)
• Collaborate with lab leadership, pathologists, clinicians, and IT teams to define scalable solutions
• Oversee test catalog build, result components, reference ranges, and orderable configuration
• Drive system testing (SIT, UAT), coordinate go-live, and provide hypercare support
• Troubleshoot critical production issues and lead root cause analysis
• Ensure compliance with lab and healthcare regulations (CLIA, CAP, HIPAA)
• Mentor junior analysts and provide technical leadership
• Lead upgrades, enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Skills
• Epic Certification in Beaker (CP and/or AP) (mandatory)
• Strong expertise in laboratory workflows and Lab Information Systems (LIS)
• Hands-on experience with HL7 interfaces, lab instruments, and middleware
• Strong understanding of healthcare data, reporting, and integrations
• SQL/reporting knowledge (preferred)
• Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Healthcare, Life Sciences, or related field
• 8 years of experience in Epic Beaker or Lab systems
• Experience leading at least one full-cycle Epic implementation
• Proven experience in production support and large-scale healthcare environments
Nice to Have
• Experience with interface engines (e.g., Cloverleaf, Rhapsody)
• Exposure to data/reporting tools like Clarity/Caboodle
• Certification in multiple Epic modules
