We are seeking a detail-oriented, knowledgeable, and dependable Tax Preparer & Accounting Specialist to join our growing team. This role combines tax preparation and accounting responsibilities, making it ideal for a professional who is analytical, highly organized, and experienced in both areas.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and filing tax returns, maintaining accurate financial records, performing bookkeeping functions, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. This individual will work closely with clients to deliver exceptional service, provide tax guidance, and support their ongoing accounting needs.
Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities.
Analyze financial information to determine tax liabilities and identify eligible deductions and credits.
Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping for multiple clients.
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
Process payroll and prepare payroll tax filings.
Prepare and file sales tax returns for various clients.
Utilize accounting and tax software, including QuickBooks Desktop (QBD), QuickBooks Online (QBO), Xero, ProSeries, and Canopy.
Review financial statements and accounting records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Research and resolve tax-related issues and respond to IRS and state tax notices.
Stay current with tax laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
Communicate effectively with clients to gather documentation and provide tax and accounting guidance.
Advise clients on tax planning strategies to help minimize liabilities and maximize compliance.
Collaborate with team members to improve processes and enhance client service delivery.
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in tax preparation, including individual and/or business tax returns.
EA (Enrolled Agent) or CPA designation preferred, or actively pursuing certification.
Current PTIN preferred but not required.
Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop (QBD), QuickBooks Online (QBO), Xero, ProSeries, Canopy, or similar accounting and tax software.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
